Two new companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) will be included in the FTSE Global All Cap index starting September 21—a move that further confirms the development of Romania's capital market and its integration into the international investment landscape, according to Alexandru Petrescu, Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).

'The semi-annual review conducted by global index provider FTSE Russell offers further confirmation of the Romanian capital market's progress. Starting September 21, two additional companies listed on the BVB will be included in the FTSE Global All Cap index, joining the other Romanian firms already present in this category. Beyond the individual outcome for each issuer, this development sends an important message regarding the maturation of the Romanian capital market. The inclusion of new companies in international indices reflects the ability of local issuers to meet rigorous criteria concerning liquidity, transparency, corporate governance, and accessibility for global institutional investors,' stated Alexandru Petrescu.

In his view, the inclusion of 10 Romanian companies in the FTSE Global All Cap and another 3 issuers in the FTSE Global Micro Cap represents 'a step forward in the process of integrating the Bucharest Stock Exchange into the international investment circuit.'

'A developed capital market means more than just the movement of stock prices. It entails mechanisms through which savings are transformed into investments, companies can raise capital for growth, and local and international investors can participate in economic growth,' believes the ASF Chairman.

At the same time, the increase in the number of Romanian companies included in global indices also signals confidence for the entire market.

'International visibility can help attract new categories of investors, diversify funding sources for companies, and strengthen the capital market's role as a strategic alternative for the development of the Romanian economy. For Romania, developing the capital market remains a key objective in building a more competitive economy, where domestic capital and international investments can jointly contribute to growth and innovation,' added Alexandru Petrescu.
