The radar surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) detected intermittent signals in the Republic of Moldova's airspace, in the Cahul area, at around 06:00 on Monday, with one of them subsequently appearing in the Targu Bujor area, Galati county.
According to a MApN release sent to AGERPRES, two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force from the 86th Air Base in Borcea and an IAR-330 SOCAT helicopter were scrambled to monitor the situation.
'The National Military Command Centre (core) notified the Inspectorate General for Emergency Situations of the measures being put in place to alert the population in the affected area.
