The drone fragments reported on Saturday morning in the area of Tuzla beach, Constanta County, contained an explosive charge, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) said. The charge was neutralised by controlled detonation under safe conditions.
'Regarding the drone fragments reported on the morning of Saturday, 22 August, in the area of Tuzla beach, Constanta County, the EOD combat diver team from the Romanian Naval Forces carried out an examination and pyrotechnic assessment of the fragments. The presence of an explosive charge was confirmed and it was neutralised by controlled detonation under safe conditions,' the Ministry of Defence said in a press statement posted on its website.
According to the source, initial checks indicate that the fragments came from a Ukrainian-made drone.
The case has been taken over by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Constanta Court of Appeal.
