President Nicusor Dan will lead Romania's delegation to the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), to be held in New York, the Presidential Administration announced on Friday.

The central theme of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly will be 'Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all'.

Nicusor Dan will address the UN General Assembly plenary on September 23, highlighting Romania's efforts to support the organisation's reform process and the country's contribution to ensuring peace, security and a rules- and norms-based international order.

In New York, the president will also attend events held on the margins of the high-level segment and hold bilateral meetings with other heads of state or government, including in support of Romania's bid to have former European Commissioner Dacian Ciolos elected Secretary General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.
