Meteorologists issued a series of Code Yellow and Code Orange warnings for atmospheric instability, strong winds, storms and significant amounts of torrential rain, valid on Thursday and Friday in several regions.
Thus, on Thursday, between 12:00 and 23:00, a Code Orange warning for unstable weather will be in force in northern Moldavia, Maramures, Oltenia, the eastern half of Transylvania, western Muntenia and locally in the Eastern and Southern Carpathians, where there will be periods of strong winds, severe storms (gusts of 70-90 km/h), significant amounts of torrential rain, medium-sized and possibly large hail (2-4 cm) and lightning. In addition, over short periods of time (between one and three hours), rainfall amounts will reach 25-40 l/sq m, locally exceeding 50 l/sq m.
Also on Thursday, during the same time interval, a Code Yellow warning for storms and significant amounts of torrential rain will be in force in areas of Banat, Crisana, western Transylvania, southern Moldavia and most of Muntenia. Wind gusts will reach 50-70 km/h and locally exceed 80 km/h, while small hail (1-2 cm) will be reported in isolated areas. Rainfall amounts will reach 15-20 l/sq m, and especially in mountainous areas, locally 30-50 l/sq m.
According to meteorologists, on Friday, 7 August, from 12:00 to 23:00, a Code Yellow warning for atmospheric instability, strong winds, storms and torrential rain will be in force in Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania, Moldavia, Oltenia and northern Muntenia. In these areas, wind speeds will reach 70 km/h and locally exceed 80 km/h, while hail will be small (1-2 cm).
