Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif won the UniCredit Iasi Open WTA 250 tournament, prize money EUR 246,388, after Spain's Paula Badosa retired at 6-4 4-0 in Monday's final.

The final started on Sunday, was interrupted at 3-3 due to torrential rain and resumed on Monday.

Mayar won her second WTA title of her career, after the one she won in 2022 in Parma.

The Egyptian reached 15 consecutive victories on hard court, after winning the WTA 125 titles in Brescia and Contrexeville.
