The Daisler Association and ESUA Association are inviting Cluj-Napoca residents and visitors to the first edition of 'The Night of the Churches', an event to be held on July 25, that will bring together religious communities from different denominations in an unprecedented partnership to open the city's ecclesiastical built heritage to the public.

Project initiator Andi Daiszler, president of the Daisler Association, told a press conference on Friday that entry is free to all activities.

'We are talking about the first edition of the 'Night of the Churches', about six denominations that sat down at the same table and agreed to open 18 places of worship across the city. We expect a large number of curious visitors who want to discover the city's ecclesiastical heritage and take part in a host of cultural activities they've never encountered inside or around places of worship - from the 'Good Community Dinner', where any denomination is welcome as long as they want to share something with those attending, to concerts of jazz and other musical styles, choral performances, museum-piece presentations. We're talking about the chance to climb for the first time at night into the tower of St. Michael's Church and see the panorama of the entire city. We are talking, therefore, about many things that can be done in this way for the first time in a Romanian city,' Daiszler said.

He added that architects will offer guided tours explaining the architectural styles of the churches, noting that the main purpose is to bring people together.

'The aim is to bring people together, to learn more about one another in a cultural setting, familiar to all, without pressure, without fees, without tickets, without barriers,' he said.

Cluj Prefect Maria Forna said the event is significant because religious denominations have joined forces to open their churches to residents and tourists, allowing them to connect with the county's cultural and religious heritage.
