Ten pupils from the Neamt county commune of Girov will represent Romania at the International Association of Fire Services (CTIF) International Youth Fire Brigade Competition, which is taking place from 13 to 18 July in Sumperk, the Czech Republic.

According to the Neamt Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU), the team qualified after winning the national final held throughout last year.

The girls are pupils at the 'Prof. Gheorghe Dumitreasa' Secondary School in Girov, an educational institution that has consistently achieved very good results in national competitions dedicated to young firefighters.

'More than 50 children's teams from 22 countries are participating in this international competition: the UK, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Switzerland, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Ukraine and Hungary,' Spokesperson of the Neamt ISU Irina Popa said.

The Girov girls' team is coordinated by teachers Mihaela Lisenche and Cristian Bordei.
