Romania has conveyed a message from Paris regarding continued support for Ukraine, Mayor Nicusor Dan stated on Tuesday.

'Yesterday, there was a sort of stock-taking meeting. Let me remind you that the goal of this coalition was to give substance to security guarantees for Ukraine as soon as the war ends or enters a ceasefire phase. During yesterday's meeting, we reviewed the progress made by the military side—specifically, how tasks have been allocated and operations defined to be carried out, as I mentioned, once peace is reached, so as to prevent the war from restarting in Ukraine. Naturally, Romania has its role to play. And, of course, following the NATO Summit and the G7 meeting, a message of unity was conveyed by all the countries involved in the 'Coalition of the Willing' regarding continued support for Ukraine and sustained pressure on Russia. The European countries present yesterday also discussed a 21st package of sanctions against Russia,' the President stated.

He emphasized that Romania's security is important and is ensured by these multilateral formats.

'Why is it important for Romania to participate in these formats? Because security matters, and security is provided by these multilateral frameworks—NATO, the Coalition of the Willing, and the B9/Helsinki format. And if we want to be defended and protected by our partners, we must not shy away; instead, we need to be present where the action is and shoulder our responsibilities—just as we have done within the Coalition of the Willing,' the President explained.



Nicusor Dan spoke about his participation in the French National Day parade, highlighting the historical bond between the two countries.

'Today—France's National Day—marked by an impressive military parade featuring troops from friendly nations, including Romanian troops whom I wish to thank, conveyed the same message of unity among countries that continue to believe in a world and in international relations based on rules. That is the core message, and the presence of troops from so many countries reflects precisely that. For Romania, the occasion is even more significant given our historic ties with France—dating back at least to World War I and General Berthelot; I recall the first time Romanian troops marched in the French National Day parade in 1919 and the establishment of diplomatic relations a century ago. Crucially today, France is our strategic partner, maintaining a substantial military presence in Romania and serving as the framework nation for our country. It was therefore important for Romania to be represented at these celebrations—both at today's military parade and at the dinner held in honor of the guests last evening,' the President stated.
