Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Sorin Grindeanu has marked France's National Day with a message in which he said that France remains for Romania not only a strategic partner but also an important model of democracy, civic courage and the European values the two countries share and defend together.
'July 14 - the day France chose freedom. Forever! Congratulations to our French friends on your National Day! France remains for us not only a strategic partner, but also a benchmark for democracy, civic courage and the European values that we share and defend together. In a Europe and a world that are increasingly complex, this friendship matters more than ever - and we value it enormously,' Grindeanu wrote on Facebook.
According to the PSD leader, Romania and France have built a strong relationship founded on mutual respect and a shared vision of what Europe should look like.
'We are convinced that together we can achieve more - for our citizens and for a stronger, more united continent. Happy National Day, Republique francaise! Vive la France! And as this evening also brings the World Cup semi-final - Allez les Bleus!' Grindeanu added. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Catalina Matei; EN - writing by: Cristina Zaharia)
