Romanian students won three gold medals and one silver medal at the 33rd Central European Olympiad in Informatics (CEOI) 2026, held in Ljubljana, July 5 to 10.

The gold medals were awarded to Victor Ioan Dobra, an 11th-grade student at the 'Lucian Blaga' National College in Sebes; Rares-Andrei Neculau, a 12th-grade student at the 'Vasile Alecsandri' National College in Galati; and Mihai-Valeriu Voicu, a 12th-grade student at the International Computer High School of Bucharest.

The silver medal was won by Andrei-Paul Iorgulescu, an 11th-grade student at the 'Tudor Vianu' National College of Computer Science in Bucharest.

The Romanian team was led by representatives of the Society for Excellence and Performance in Informatics (SEPI): Mihai Nan, PhD, from the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, and Alexandru Lorintz, representing SEPI.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Research, coordination of the Olympiad was ensured by the Directorate for Olympiads, Competitions, Partnerships and Extracurricular Education, through Georgeta Antonia Rodica Craciunescu, adviser to the ministry.

The Ministry of Education and Research supports the participation of Romania's national teams in international Olympiads by covering participation fees, travel expenses and daily allowances for the period of the competition, as well as by organising and supporting the local, county, municipal and national qualifying stages that precede international Olympiads.
