Ankara - AGERPRES special correspondent Oana Ghita reports: President Nicusor Dan had a bilateral meeting in Ankara, on Wednesday, with UK's outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during which he underlined that Romania and the United Kingdom cooperate closely on security matters.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.
'Romania and the United Kingdom enjoy excellent bilateral relations, anchored in our strong strategic partnership and in closely converging security interests. We continue to cooperate closely on security matters and on strengthening deterrence on NATO's Eastern Flank,' the Romanian head of state wrote on X.
He added that he took the opportunity to convey gratitude for the UK air policing mission in Romania, which represents 'a valued contribution to our security and proof of the strength and solidarity of our Alliance.' AGERPRES (RO - editing by: Claudia Stanescu; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
