The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued code yellow weather warnings for atmospheric instability, strong winds and squalls, valid on Tuesday and Wednesday across 37 counties.
According to the meteorologists, between 11:00 pm on 7 July and 12:00 pm on 8 July, Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania and the northern half of Moldavia will experience periods of atmospheric instability, with strengthening winds, squalls reaching 50 to 70 km/h, thunderstorms and showers producing 15 to 25 litres of rain per square metre in isolated areas.
Unstable weather is also expected on Tuesday afternoon and evening across parts of Maramures, Transylvania, Moldavia and Dobruja, as well as northern Oltenia and Muntenia, with isolated incidents elsewhere.
A further code yellow warning for atmospheric instability will be in force across most of the country on Wednesday between 12:00 pm and 11:00 pm. Winds will reach speeds of 50 to 70 km/h, with gusts exceeding 80 km/h in isolated areas. Heavy showers, thunderstorms and small to medium-sized hailstones measuring 1 to 3 cm are also forecast.
Rainfall totals of 15 to 20 litres per square metre are expected within short periods of one to three hours, with isolated areas receiving more than 30 to 40 litres per square metre. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Daniel Badea; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
