The Bucharest Tribunal on Wednesday provisionally suspended the implementation and effects of a resolution that convened the National Liberal Party's (PNL) extraordinary congress, pending a final ruling, in a decision that could affect the party's leadership during ongoing efforts to form a new Romanian government.

The Bucharest Tribunal ruled to suspend the implementation and effects of the Extraordinary National Council Resolution No. 01/2026 of June 19, which convened the party's extraordinary congress on June 21, until the related case is definitively settled.

The court also upheld an objection that PNL leader Ilie Bolojan and Secretary General Dan-Stefan Motreanu lacked standing as individual defendants, dismissing the claims against them while partially admitting the case against the National Liberal Party. The ruling may be appealed within five days.

The challenge was brought by 18 PNL members aligned with the party's Adrian Vestea faction.
