The Jazz Cave Festival, one of Romania's most distinctive music festivals, returns to Valcea County for its third consecutive year, offering art and music lovers a four-day jazz marathon from July 2 to 7, featuring artists from Europe, North America and South America, the Romanian Union of Performing Musicians (UCIMR) announced.
According to the organisers, the concerts at this year's sixth edition will once again take place on three stages: one inside the Ocnele Mari Salt Mine, and two others set up in Zavoi Park and at the Ramnicu Valcea Art Museum.
'We remain true to our mission of offering participants a rich sensory experience - acoustic, gastronomic, olfactory and even therapeutic - while placing Romania on the map of the world's leading international jazz festivals by showcasing its cultural and natural heritage. At this sixth edition, we are bringing together 21 bands featuring more than 100 local and international artists from 11 countries across three continents for a four-day jazz marathon held on three stages in two towns in Romania's Sub-Carpathian region,' cultural manager and UCIMR board member Sebastian Gheorghiu said in a press release.
The festival will take place from July 2 to 5. The line-up includes Chris Cheek Quartet (USA/Netherlands), Simin Tander Quartet (Germany/Norway), Olivia Trummer Trio (Germany), Roger Correa Quartet (Brazil), Atlantico (Italy), Yiorgos Bereris Trio (Greece), Tereza Catarov Quintet (United Kingdom), Advantage Project (Ukraine/Belgium), as well as Romanian acts Nightlosers, Luiza Zan and the Adrian Nour Band.
The festival, which is part of the Europe Jazz Network, will open on Thursday, July 2, on the stage at the Ramnicu Valcea Art Museum. Over the weekend, performances will take place in the salt mine, followed by evening concerts on the other two stages in Ramnicu Valcea.
Admission to all concerts is free of charge. However, entry to the salt mine and the Art Museum is subject to the purchase of the respective admission tickets, the organisers said. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Ramona Dinca; EN - writing by: Cristina Zaharia)
