Film director Cristian Mungiu is the guest of honour at the 54th edition of the La Rochelle International Film Festival in France, taking place from 26 June to 4 July.
According to a press release the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, Cristian Mungiu will attend FEMA La Rochelle from 27 June to 1 July, where he will take part in audience question-and-answer sessions as well as professional meetings with film industry specialists.
The director will be featured at the festival with a retrospective including nine feature films and all of his short films, alongside an exhibition of photographs from his personal archive.
Film enthusiasts will have the opportunity to discover or revisit the director's entire body of work, from Occident to R.M.N., including two titles not yet screened in France: Traffic (2024), directed by Teodora Ana Mihai and co-written by Cristian Mungiu, and Fjord (2026), which premiered worldwide at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Palme d'Or.

The tribute to Cristian Mungiu also includes the exhibition 'Biography of a Storyteller,' bringing together more than 200 photographs from his personal collection, displayed throughout the festival at the Dames Blanches Chapel and the Chain Tower in La Rochelle.
