MEP Eugen Tomac, who resigned on Sunday his mandate as prime minister-designate, said he had been open to 'any reasonable compromise' that would give the country a government, but did not find the same attitude from all the parties he spoke with.

He thanked President Nicusor Dan for the confidence shown and wished new prime minister nominee Adrian Vestea success.



'Ten days ago I set out with the conviction that I could persuade the democratic parties, affiliated with the European political families, to grant me their confidence. I was sincere, I was honest, I was open to any reasonable compromise that would quickly give the country a government. I did not find the same attitude among all the parties, and I regret that. I thank all those who agreed to be part of the list of ministers I proposed. I regret that I could not convince them, but I hope that what follows will be what is best for Romania. Thank you, and I wish great success to the designated prime minister,' Tomac said in a press statement delivered at the Cotroceni Palace alongside Nicusor Dan and Adrian Vestea.
