PNL Chairman Ilie Bolojan described the nomination of Liberal Adrian Vestea for prime minister as 'a hostile act', calling it 'an obvious attempt to fracture' the party.

He stressed that he had not been informed of President Nicusor Dan's intention to designate Vestea for this position.

'Neither the PNL leadership nor I personally were informed beforehand by the president about this decision - a hostile act, an obvious attempt to break up the PNL, an intention already sensed since the toppling of the government in PSD's interest. The attempt to impose on a party a prime minister from its own ranks, without even a prior consultation and after all the unanimous decisions taken by the party's bodies, violates every principle of loyal political cooperation. In the coming period we will convene a meeting of the PNL National Political Bureau to take an official decision,' Bolojan wrote on his Facebook page.
