Thirteen crew members of the Royad Mammadov are missing and the ship's captain has been injured following a fire that broke out on board on Monday, while the vessel was in the Black Sea, outside Romania's territorial waters, the Romanian Naval Authority (ANR) reported.
According to this source, at around 11.00 am, the Romanian Naval Authority, through the Constanta Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), was alerted to a serious maritime incident that occurred outside Romania's territorial waters.
MRCC Constanta requested the intervention of the Romanian Agency for Saving Lives at Sea (ARSVOM) and the mobilisation of rescue vessels.
'Several intervention units were mobilised, including the SAR APOLLO vessel (which departed from Sulina) and SAR ARTEMIS (which departed from Berth 72). The intervention of the SAR ARES vessel was also requested,' according to a press release issued by ANR.
