Interim National Defence Minister Radu Miruta announced on Thursday that the contract for the supply of 34 Class I Mini UAS systems, part of the projects approved under the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) programme, was signed.
'The Ministry of National Defence has just signed with Quantum Systems the contract for the supply of the 'Class I Mini UAS System' product, part of the projects approved through SAFE. The value of the contract is 30.7 million euros excluding VAT and involves the delivery of 34 Class I Mini UAS systems (vector) and 15 Scorpion kits, which transform the system from a 'fixed-wing' configuration into a 'multicopter' configuration. According to the contract, all 34 systems will be delivered in 2027 and will be used in surveillance missions,' Miruta wrote on Facebook.
According to the minister, the contracted systems will complement those already in service with the Romanian Army and are part of the broader co-production project in Romania.
'Despite all attempts by certain individuals to block the Romanian Army's procurement efforts through SAFE, for this project we found solutions to overcome the legal obstacles that emerged in recent days,' Radu Miruta said. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Mihai Stoica; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
