Senate President Mircea Abrudean announced that he met on Wednesday with representatives of the American technology company DriverAI, with whom he discussed the construction of the first data center based on quantum artificial intelligence in Romania.

According to him, the project would be carried out in Luna commune, Cluj county.

'The world's first data center with Quantum Artificial Intelligence is being built in Romania, in Cluj County, by an American company. 4 phases, 20 hectares and 1 billion dollars invested in the first stage. Any American investment in Romania represents an investment in our security! At the meeting today with representatives of DriverAI, an American technology company based in Arizona, we discussed the plans to build the first data center with Quantum Artificial Intelligence in Romania, in Luna commune, Cluj County,' Abrudean sent in a Facebook post.

He emphasized that this large-scale project represents a fundamental pillar in consolidating the strategic and economic partnership between Romania and the United States of America.

'This strategic initiative is a clear example of a transatlantic vision transformed into reality, which I supported at the meetings held during my visit to the US, in Washington, at the beginning of this year. Through this collaboration with DriverAI, we are positioning Romania as a node of critical importance on the European map of cutting-edge technologies,' Abrudean emphasized.

He highlighted the opportunities offered to the Romanian academic environment, following the construction of this facility.

'But, beyond the direct economic impact and attracting specialists, the biggest gain is the opening of unprecedented opportunities for the Romanian academic environment. The fact that students and researchers from elite universities in Cluj, but not only, will have access for the first time to advanced GPU computing resources and quantum hardware will transform Romania into an anchor of innovation in Europe,' added the Senate President.AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Livia Popescu, editing by: Mihai Simionescu;EN - writing by: Catalin Cristian Trandafir)
