Save Romania Union (USR)'s Political Committee, meeting on Friday, approved the party's participation in government and the list of proposed ministers.

The list of ministers proposed by USR is as follows:

* Radu Miruta - Ministry of National Defence;
* Diana Buzoianu - Ministry of Environment;
* Oana Toiu - Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
* Catalin Drula - Ministry of Transport;
* Irineu Darau - Ministry of Economy.

The Political Committee also voted for USR to back former judge Andrea Chis for the position of justice minister.

'A judge for 28 years and a member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) between 2017 and 2023, Andrea Chis holds a doctorate in law, awarded summa cum laude, and represented the CSM on the board of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary,' according to a USR press release.

The Political Committee also approved the governing programme that Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan will present to Parliament. According to USR, the programme focuses on 'better management of public money' and improving Romanians' standard of living.

'We have demonstrated that we can govern differently: with results, not promises. USR ministers have delivered reforms that Romania had been waiting for for years, and today's vote reconfirms their mandate. We are joining the Muresan government with a simple objective: public money well managed and a better standard of living for every Romanian,' party president Dominic Fritz said.

According to USR, its current ministers in the Bolojan government 'have demonstrated that they can deliver reforms Romanians have been waiting for for many years, even when numerous obstacles were placed in their way.'

'They have implemented projects that will change Romania for the better in the years ahead and put the country on the right track, which is why the USR leadership voted for them to continue their mandates at the ministries they have headed for the past 15 months,' the release also said.
