As of July 27, 2026, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu - 150 years since her birth.
According to a press release of the central bank, the coin will have on the observe a graphical composition inspired by the literary work 'Concert din muzica de Bach' ('A Concert of Bach's Music') by Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu, the inscription 'ROMANIA' in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the year of issue '2026' and the face value '10 LEI'.
On the obverse, the coin will show the portrait, the name of the writer Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu, as well as her birth and death years '1876' and '1955'.
The silver coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by booklets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The maximum mintage is 300 silver coins.
The selling price for the silver coin, the booklet and the certificate of authenticity is lei 1,050.00, including VAT.
The silver coins dedicated to Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu - 150 years since her birth are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The coins are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi and Timisoara.
